Just how big is Alaska?
571,951 sq mi. (1,4 81,353 sq km), equal to 1/5 of the continental United States.

Alaska is the farthest North, West, and East point of the United States. It crosses the international date line.

Purchased from Russia October 18, 1867 for two cents per acre ($7,200,000).  Alaska joined the United States January 3, 1959 as the 49th State.

North Pole, Alaska
Alaska Mobile Productions has provided live televised starts from downtown Anchorage as well as the restart in Willow.  (insert other sentences about trail coverage.)  When the winner crosses under the burled arch in Nome, our full crew is there to capture the moment, providing the satellite uplink and other equipment necessary to share the excitement with viewers around the state.  We turn the City Council Chambers in City Hall into a mini-television station for 4 or 5 days to cover the end of the race in a style only available from Alaska Mobile Productions.

Our portable satellite unit's size and packaging make it versatile enough to provide exclusive live trail coverage of the Iditarod sled dog race.

Night and Day in Alaska
Alaska Sun DataProducers often wonder if they're going to have to deal with 24-hour darkness when coming to Alaska. The answer is-it depends on where and when you go.
